These two were nursing great at the beginning. Then they started to show all the signs of lambs not getting enough, mom’s milk didn’t come in as usual. One tubing and a long night of learning a bottle and milking a reluctant recipient ewe and we have strong persistent lambs helping mom’s milk increase with some bottle supplementation from the team! This sight makes the heart leap!

We had a tough call to make yesterday with our pregnant ewe Lilac. She became toxemic and she and her lamb were at risk. We did an emergency c-section to save both mom and baby. A beautiful little ewe lamb was born! Mom and baby are home and doing well Thank you to @azoresveterinarypractice for a job well done and @selivestock.managing for dropping everything to transport and care for them at the hospital!

When you chew your cud in unison with your sisters! Why are they chewing? ⬇️. Sheep chew cud to improve fiber digestion. By rechewing regurgitated forage, they enhance microbial fermentation and extract more nutrients from every bite.
